1st Fonyód Traditional Barn Dancing

The program is coordinated by Fonyód Betyár Folk Dance Association, which, in collaboration with dance groups from nearby settlementsto showcase the rich dance traditions of the Carpathian Basin.

The event will be opened by the adult and youth groups of Fonyód Betyárok—Betyár and Cseperedők. They will be followed, as planned, by performances from Boglár Senior from Balatonboglár, Sulyom from Zamárd, and Ördöngős Dance Ensemble from Lengyeltóti. The performers will present, among others, dances from Kalotaszeg, Mezőföld, Bukovina, Bököny, Györgyfalva, and Tyukod, as well as a Kalocsa girls’ dance and choreographed routines for young men.

After the stage performance, the audience can also join in the program. The dance troupe leaders will welcome the audience with a short, easy-to-follow dance lesson, so anyone can experience the joy of moving together, even without any prior dance experience. The nearly three-hour program is scheduled to be accompanied by live music from Bojtár Folk Music Ensemble of Nagykanizsa.

The goal of the event is not only to showcase and preservepreserve it, but also to strengthen local communities and fostering intergenerational connections, and promoting physical activity as a joyful pastime. We warmly welcome local residents, vacationers, tourists, families, young people, and seniors alike to the program.
