- House of Arts Veszprém
House of Arts Veszprém participated in the VEB 2023 and Elefsina 2023 European Capital of Culture projects, focusing on the theme of learning about and utilizing wild plants. In 2024, as a continuation of the missing initiative, we created new program elements and services, we have created a new community space in our institution. BotanicArt is a participatory space, hoping for a greener and more sustainable future. With the help of fine arts, creative work, and gastronomy, it encourages public discussion, learning and creation. Its operating model fits well with the international museum examples we are familiar with. BotanicArt organizes thematic exhibitions, in which the dissemination of knowledge is related to environmental culture , as well as art and art history education. As part of our program to promote mental health, we organize art therapy sessions based on creative work. The community space is open to the public free of charge during the current opening hours of House of Arts. Visitors can also get involved independently with the help of a self-service stand to learn about the exhibitions.
Event overview
- January 14.
Tastes from the movie screen 1. / In our new series, we explore international feature films with gastronomic phenomena, special ingredients, and culinary traditions. We use the inspiration we draw from the films in our everyday lives. First, we will explore the films of Indian director and screenwriter Ritesh Batra (1979).
In connection with the film The Lunchbox (2013, 1 h 44 min.), we will discuss Dabbā, the Indian tradition of preparing lunch. During the preparation process, the housewife cooks the food at home, then a "dabbawala" (meaning "one who carries the box") takes the lunch box across half the city to deliver it to family members working at their workplace. The Photograph, (2019. 1h 10 min.) is also set in the unique world of the Indian metropolis Mumbai (formerly Bombay). The common thread between the two works is that they both deal with the relationship between two people from different worlds. Their encounter changes their lives in unexpected ways. - January 21.
