A hen decides she won’t accept her fate; she escapes from the farm that would have meant certain death and does everything she can to finally become a mother. Through her adventures, which take her across beautiful coastal landscapes and desolate wastelands, a truly human drama unfolds before us—one we certainly haven’t seen from this perspectivewe have certainly never seen before.
Indeed, György Pálfi, director of the cult movies Taxidermia and Hukkle , is the only one who could have created this visually stunning, grotesquely humorous, and rivetingly exciting film. Hen did not receive financial support from Hungary, so it was ultimately produced as a German-Greek-Hungarian co-production, and after screening at numerous film festivals around the world, it will be presented in Hungary as the opening film of the 45th Hungarian Film Week. The lead role is played by eight different animals born and trained in Hungary, and the stunning visuals were created without CGI, with the help of animal coordinator Árpád Halász (White God, Poor Thingss, Body and Soul). Pálfi once again worked with his regular collaborators, including screenwriter Zsófia Ruttkay and editor Réka Lemhényi, with András Muhi serving as the Hungarian co-producer.
