Movie club: The Horse of Turin. An original Hungarian-language Hungarian-French-Swiss-German drama, 148 minutes, 2011 Director: Béla Tarr

Cast: Erika Bók, János Derzsi, Mihály Kormos, Ricsi

"What else can I say after the Horse in Turin?" In memory of Béla Tarr, the last work of his life's work, which won the Silver Bear at the 2011 Berlin International Film Festival, is back on the program.

The title refers to the horse that Friedrich Nietzsche saw on January 3, 1889, as he stepped out of his apartment in Turin. The horse stood stubbornly in front of the carriage, so the coachman began to whip it. The philosopher approached the horse and, bursting into tears, embraced it. After his servant took him home, he put Nietzsche to bed, who from then on spent the remaining 10 years of his life in a state of mental decline.
In the film, we follow the daily lives of a father and daughter over six days in the middle of nowhere, on an abandoned farm. In the movie, everything that had given meaning to their lives disappears in a direction contrary to the order of creation. (Cirko Film)
