Sewing Box Sashiko Community Textile Workshop

VARRÓDOBOZ is House of Arts Veszprém’s community-based recycling, textile, and sewing workshop. It is a creative workshop where participants can learn about various upcycling and hand-sewing techniques to learn about sustainable methods and improve their sewing skills.

At the Sewing Box’s regular events, we showcase opportunities that allow participants to breathe new life into used textiles and clothing— whether through mending or upcycling—and incorporate these techniques into their daily lives.

The workshop’s activities are linked to ; participants can learn about sewing techniques from other cultures, which provide opportunities to master new methods and and to enrich their sewing knowledge.

We have paid special attention to introducing and practicing traditional handicraft techniques, which are based on sustainability and respect for materials. One such example is the Japanese sashiko stitching technique, which serves both as a repair method and a decorative art. This technique not only provides an aesthetic experience but also offers an opportunity to reinterpret existing garments.
