St. Michael's Day

What is the difference between a lamb, a ewe, and a sheep? Which animal does the shepherd put a bell on? How is the shorn fleece turned into soft, fluffy woolen clothing? And what are the benefits of using wool today? 

On Saturday, September 26, in honor of St. Michael’s Day, we’ll reveal all the secrets and traditions to both kids and adults. We look forward to seeing you at the exhibition titled From a Lamb’s Fur… From the Pasture to the Loom, and Beyond and the cozy family day that follows.

Detailed program for the day

10:30 a.m. – Exhibition opening

The exhibition will be opened by: Brigitta Szanyi, director of Laczkó Dezső Museum.

In the back room of the Bakony House, alongside the museum’s prized collection pieces, visitors can also admire the wonderful works of felt artists. (The exhibition is open until November 22).

11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. — Independent and guided craft adventures

• Sheep Petting: meet the event’s cutest four-legged stars! 
• Felt a sheep! With the help of restorer Veronika Cziráki, kids can try their hand at wet felting and needle felting. 
• Yarn Ball: join our attempt to set a record for the largest yarn ball! 
• The Bell Ringers: try playing the bell, just like the sheep do.
• The Great Sheep Quiz: test your knowledge—do you know everything there is to know about sheep?
• What’s Your Sign in the Flock? Creative coloring and making unique sheep ears for the little ones. 
• Lamb Cloud Hunt: relax outdoors—we’ll provide the comfortable lounge chairs!

• Adults: 1,600 HUF
• Students / Seniors / Discounted: 800 HUF 
• Adult groups (15 or more people): 1,000 HUF per person
