Introduction

Balatoncsicsó is the largest settlement by area in the Nivegy Valley, located about 7 km from Lake Balaton. Among its natural and man-made attractions, the ruins of the church on Szent Balázs Hill, the ruins of the churches in Ároktő and Herend, the Church of St. Augustine, as well as the panoramic bike path and the Hamuház rest area. The area offers opportunities for excursions, leisure activities, and sports.

Viticulture and winemaking are traditional in the surrounding areas. Several wineries offer wine tastings and wine dinners throughout the year. The village's heritage includes protective barns and several local heritage sites.

Location & Accessibility

By car, take Route 71 along the northern shore of Lake Balaton, turn north at Zánka, or take Route 77, which connects Veszprém and Tapolca, and continue south at Nagyvázsony in the direction of Zánka. By train, the Zánka-Köveskál station is the transfer point, with buses to Balatoncsicsó departing primarily from here and from the center of Nagyvázsony.
