Introduction
Barnag lies in the heart of the Balaton Uplands, its image shaped by two historical settlements, Magyarbarnag and Németbarnag (Hungarian and German Barnag). The single-street village welcomes visitors with two historic churches and characteristic "stolen porch" houses.
The Calvary in Barnag is one of the oldest way of the cross in Veszprém County, retaining its archaic features. The churches of the settlement, the natural wetland habitat of Mocsolya Grove, and the nearby Zádor Castle hiking trail provide a cultural and natural focus.
A tradition associated with the Catholic church is St. Martin's Day (the first Sunday after the saint's name day), which is a highlight of the local church calendar.
Location & Accessibility
The settlement is located between Veszprém and Nagyvázsony, and can be reached from the roads connecting Nagyvázsony with Zánka or Tótvázsony with Aszófő. Buses to Barnag typically depart from Veszprém and Nagyvázsony.
