Introduction
The Halászkert Restaurant is one of the oldest and best-known restaurants in Balatonfüred, located in the town's renovated Reform Era district, at the intersection of Main Road 71 and Zákonyi Ferenc Boulevard. The history of the restaurant dates back to the 1940s, when it was still a small garden restaurant with a thatched roof. Based on the plans of Imre Makovecz, an internationally renowned architect and recipient of the Kossuth and Ybl prizes, the restaurant was rebuilt in 1963 after the original building burned down, and it has been a romantic dining spot in Füred ever since.
The restaurant is particularly proud of its rich selection of fish dishes, which evoke the atmosphere and spirit of Lake Balaton. Among the most popular dishes are the Balaton fish soup made from catfish and catfish patties with sour cream sauce. In addition, the menu features many other special dishes that combine elements of traditional Hungarian cuisine and modern gastronomy.
