The history of the Hunting Lodge:

In 1883, Ödön Batthyány inherited the duke's title, the Batthyány estate, and the Strattmann name. As he wanted to indulge in one of his main hobbies, hunting, in Körmend, he had a hunting lodge built in the palace park. The first residents of the building were Ferenc Károly Petrzilka and his family. Ödön Batthyány-Strattmann chose him as his head forester, gamekeeper, and head gardener of the estate. He lived with his family in the hunting lodge until his death in 1927.

No significant changes were made to the building's structure or floor plan until the end of the 1950s. At that time, after the palace and park had been used by the Soviet army, when the forestry center was established, major renovations and and conversion took place, which determined the appearance of the building complex until the renovation in 2016. At that time, a new office was built on the site of the demolished wooden terrace, and a common roof was added the other room on the south side, which had been stripped of its high roof.
After the forestry offices moved out, the condition of the hunting lodge deteriorated significantly, and its surroundings also appeared neglected. During the renovation in 2016/17, the facade of the historic building was completely renovated, the roof and windows were replaced, the interior functional spaces were redesigned, and the building was made barrier-free.
The hunting lodge is located in the northeast corner of the palace garden.
