Introduction
The Kabóc Puppet Theater is one of the most prominent cultural institutions in the city of Veszprém. It has been operating since 1992 and is one of the defining players in Hungarian puppetry.
Our goal is for the puppet theater to be not only a venue for performances, but also a community space. We want Kabóca to be the best puppet theater in Veszprém and the world.
The company regularly holds performances, festivals, and summer camps at its own building on Deák Ferenc Street, as well as at outdoor venues (e.g., Kabócakert, Love Island), it regularly holds performances, festivals, and summer camps. The theater is particularly well known for the Kabócádé Family Festival, which attracts thousands of visitors every year. In the 2025/2026 season, the theater will celebrate its 25th anniversary and the 120th anniversary of its building It will celebrate its 25th anniversary and 120th anniversary with 13 new performances and a revamped image.
The current director, Markó Róbert, has set the realization of the idea of a people's theater as a goal for himself and the company. What exactly does this mean?
A theater where every audience member, from infants to children and teenagers to adults, can find something to experience, think about, and identify with. The focus of the work and the performances is always on authentic storytelling that can be experienced, and on balanced collaboration with the actors, based on the talents of the company.
