Introduction
Küngös lies at the junction of the Bakony and Mezőföld regions. Its name derives from the Pechenegian name Kunigunda (Kinga), and was first mentioned in writing in 1290. Among the historical points of interest in this three-street village are the former small manor house (Vojnich Manor) in the center, the 18th-19th century gravestone collection in the cemetery, and the source area of the Bürkösréti stream.
There are two churches on the main street: a small Reformed church without a tower, with a separate bell tower, and Hungary's first St. Kinga Church, which was consecrated on November 9, 2013.
In the 20th century, the area around the settlement was home to significant lavender and almond plantations, and today, in addition to the church, the memory of St. kinga lives on in Kinga Park, Szent Kinga Square, Szandec Rest Area, and Szent Kinga Pantry, with local products.
Location & Accessibility
The settlement is located on the edge of the Bakony-Mezőföld region, close to the eastern shore of Lake Balaton, approximately 9 km from Balatonkenese. It is located between Balatonfőkajár and Berhida, and there is a railway station in the neighboring village of Csajág, from where occasional bus transfers are provided. Otherwise, it can typically be reached by bus from Veszprém/Berhida, and Balatonfőkajár.
